The Stand Up Comedy Hall of Fame

I stole this idea from another website (kinda like rock and roll isn't it)?

I have put together what I like to call the Stand Up Comedy Hall of Fame.
Here are MY charter members...

George Carlin

Richard Pryor

Lenny Bruce

You can vote for your favorites to the right. Enjoy!

Wheeeere's Johnny? Can't have Jay Leno on your ballot without Johnny Carson! I'd add Eddie Murphy and Bill Cosby too...

As for your charter members, Carlin and Pryor are no-brainers. Not so sure about Lenny Bruce, but I'm not familiar enough with his stuff to make a judgment.

Thank, Brian. I never thought of Carson as a stand up guy, I guess he was when you think of it. He was more a "host" than anything. Youa re right about Cosby, I knew I forgot someone. He'll be in the next round. D'oh!

Without Lenny Bruce, there would have been no George Carlin or Richard Pryor, or modern comedy in general.

As for those you already have on your original ballot, Robin Williams is clearly the standout. I think the best tribute I ever heard to a comedian came from R. Pryor himself when he spoke of a gig he did with Robin in the late 70s wherein they were supposed to do nothing but improvise together. Richard said, "I just stood there and watched him for like an hour..."

Randy, those three are the only three that matter. Everyone else, including me, are simply paying homage to those three fellas.
